SYDNEY: Didi Bahini Women’s Network Australia is all set to celebrate Teej 2026 with a meaningful and inclusive community program aimed at bringing culture, health, wellbeing and social awareness together under one roof.
Themed “Celebrate Teej with Purpose,” the event will be held from 3:00 pm onwards on Saturday, 5 September 2026, at Granville Town Hall, 10 Carlton Street, Granville, NSW 2142, with support from Cumberland City Council.
Teej with a Meaningful Difference
The Didi Bahini Women’s Network NSW team is preparing to mark Teej differently this year by going beyond traditional celebrations and creating a platform for conversations around issues that directly affect individuals, women, men and families within the community.
A major focus of the program will be mental health and wellbeing awareness. Neami National will participate in the event to provide information about available mental health and wellbeing support services, helping community members better understand where to seek assistance and how to access appropriate support when needed.
Awareness, Education and Open Conversations
The program will also feature a range of workshops and awareness sessions covering important contemporary issues, including financial literacy, community wellbeing, vaping awareness, family harmony, men’s wellness and menopause.
The sessions are designed to encourage open and constructive conversations around issues that can sometimes remain unspoken within families and communities. By bringing these topics into a welcoming community environment, the organizers aim to promote greater awareness, understanding and mutual support.
Free Health Checks for the Community
Health and wellbeing will also take centre stage, with free diabetes and blood pressure checks available for parents and visitors staying in Australia.
The initiative is supported by Western District Health and is intended to encourage community members to pay greater attention to their health, identify potential concerns at an early stage and seek professional advice where necessary.
Tradition Meets Health and Social Wellbeing
The initiative reflects Didi Bahini Women’s Network Australia’s broader commitment to celebrating Teej in a way that connects culture and tradition with health, education, empowerment and stronger families.
Rather than viewing Teej solely as a cultural or social occasion, the organizers are using the festival as an opportunity to promote conversations that can contribute to healthier individuals, stronger relationships and a more informed community.
An Evening of Music, Dance and Cultural Celebration
Following the awareness, health and educational components of the program, the day will culminate in the traditional Teej celebration in the evening.
Music, dance, cultural performances and community interaction will bring the celebrations to a vibrant close, allowing participants to embrace the joy and spirit of Teej while reflecting on its deeper social and cultural significance.
With its combination of tradition, celebration, health awareness, education and community connection, Celebrate Teej with Purpose 2026 promises to offer a refreshing and meaningful way of marking one of Nepal’s most cherished festivals in the Australian diaspora.
Teej 2026 is set to be more than a celebration—it is an invitation to celebrate culture, care for wellbeing, strengthen families and build a healthier, more connected community.
